How to create through intention
Every day in our lives our brain is processing millions of bits of information. More so than ever there is a huge amount of information around us. If we had no way of filtering this information our minds would quickly become overwhelmed.
Our brain has an incredible filter that it uses to home in on what is important to us and ensure our conscious mind notices it over all the other information around us.
This is called our Reticular Activating System or RAS for short.
Have you ever noticed that the next car you decide to buy seems to suddenly pop up regularly? Or when you first got pregnant you started to notice anyone else that was pregnant or with a young baby? These things are always around us but now it has become clear on your radar your RAS is now flagging it up to you. If you are familiar with The Law of Attraction you may notice that this also will play in to this phenomenon too.
We can use this cool trick of the brain to help us get what we want.
First step- get intentional.
Set your intention.
Be clear what it is you are seeking.
By focusing in on what it is you want your RAS will have clearer parameters of what you want to notice.
When you wake in the morning, tell yourself what it is you intend to do today. Get clear on what you will see, what you will hear and how you will feel.
You can focus on anything that will add value to your day; gratitude, optimism or opportunities can all become clear to you when you are looking for them.
If you have an uncertainty or quandary you can also set your RAS to work on bringing you the answer.
Have you ever been stuck recalling a name of a film or song when talking to someone?
The words ‘it will come to me later’ come out of your mouth. Then mysteriously an hour later when doing another activity or when in the shower the next morning the information pops into your head like a light bulb going on? Your RAS has been working away in the background retrieving the information for you that you set the intention to recall.
